In addition to pain in the stomach, myoma during pregnancy can cause symptoms such as fever, nausea and vomiting, and bleeding from the vagina. Even so, myoma that appears during pregnancy often does not cause any symptoms. In many cases, its appearance is only realized when pregnant women carry out routine control to the doctor, especially when the doctor performs an ultrasound examination on the stomach.

Until now, the exact cause of the emergence of myoma is unknown. Increased levels of the hormones estrogen, progesterone, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), and increased blood flow in the uterus are thought to be the cause of the appearance or increase in the size of the myoma during pregnancy. Can myoma sufferers during pregnancy can't give birth normally?

Most pregnant women with uterine myoma can still undergo normal labor. However, there are several conditions that need to be watched out for, so labor may have to be done by cesarean section. Some of these conditions are:
  • Myoma which is located in the lower uterine segment so that it covers the birth canal.
  • Myoma that is large and is located in the cervix or cervix.
  • Myoma located between the head of the fetus and cervix.
  • Myoma which results in stunted fetal growth.
Caesarean section is performed if the myoma is thought to be harmful to the fetus or cause failure of normal delivery. Apart from myoma, caesarean section also needs to be done if there is indeed a fetal position abnormality, for example the position of the transverse baby or the opening that does not progress after some time. Myoma has the potential to cause complications in pregnancy. However, there is no reliable research to see the effect of myoma on the emergence of complications during pregnancy. Most pregnant women who suffer from myoma actually have no complications during pregnancy, other than the emergence of pain in the stomach. So, pregnant women who suffer from myoma do not need to worry too much. Keep doing routine pregnancy checks to the obstetrician at least once a month, to prevent and anticipate complications during pregnancy or childbirth.
